Indian basketball had no digital ticketing. Ticmint built it from the ground up.

The Basketball Federation of India ran two of its biggest events with Ticmint, the FIBA World Cup 2027 Asian Qualifiers and the FIBA U18 Asia Cup 2026. 66,500+ tickets sold. 42 matches digitized. For the first time in BFI’s history, fans could register, book, and enter events digitally.

The Challenge

BFI had the events. They had no way to run them digitally.

The Basketball Federation of India manages some of India’s biggest basketball events, including FIBA-sanctioned international tournaments. But before Ticmint, there was no digital ticketing infrastructure. Entry was invite-based, distributed through state associations. Fans couldn’t register. BFI couldn’t collect data. There was no scanning at the gate.

Running events at international scale, with FIBA oversight and fans from across the country, required something more than what they had. Four gaps that needed to be closed

No digital ticketing infrastructure

State associations handled entry to BFI events through invites, no online booking, no ticket generation, no fan registration. Fans had no platform to access events directly.

No audience data

With no registration system, BFI had no visibility into who their fans were, where they came from, or how to reach them again after an event. Every event started from zero.

No gate scanning or access control

Without digital tickets, there was no structured way to manage gate entry. No scanning, no validation, no real-time access control.

No pan-India reach

Fan access was limited to state-level invite networks. Events with national and international significance had no mechanism to reach or attract fans from across the country.

They needed a platform that could take Indian basketball from invite-only to digital-first — and do it at the scale of an international FIBA tournament.

How Ticmint Helped

Built for sports. day one.

Free registration support

Fan registration at no cost to attendees, critical for growing a new digital audience without a price barrier. Pan-India fans could sign up for the first time.

WhatsApp ticket delivery

Tickets delivered via WhatsApp, the channel Indian fans already use daily, with better deliverability than email.

Gate scanning and access control

Structured entry management with digital scanning at the gate, giving BFI real access control for the first time at an international-level event.

Fan data captured from day one

Every registration captured, name, contact, location. BFI could now see who their fans were and where they came from, building a reachable audience with every event.

Scale-ready infrastructure

From a 2-match qualifier to a 40-match international tournament, the same platform handled both without reconfiguration.

Paper ticket and barcode generation - built in

Generate paper tickets and barcodes directly from Ticmint, no external tools, no multi-step export-import flow. What previously required multiple systems now happens in one place.

The first digital ticket in BFI's history was the start of something much bigger.

Before the FIBA Qualifiers, Indian basketball events ran on invitations. No booking, no data, no fan records. Ticmint changed that with a single event, then scaled it into one of the largest basketball tournaments ever hosted in India.

What changed, bullet points:

Crowded stadium stands filled with spectators watching a live event; an Indian flag is visible on a spectator’s chair.

"Organizer owns the event. Promoter sells within their quota. Ambassador adds another layer, own quota, own commission. All in one dashboard."

THE STORY

One federation. Two milestones.

FIBA World Cup 2027 Asian Qualifiers

6,500

tickets · 2 matches · Both sold out

BFI’s first digital ticketing event. Two matches, India vs Qatar and India vs Lebanon, run entirely on Ticmint. For the first time, fans could book online and enter with a digital ticket.

FIBA U18 Asia Cup 2026, Ahmedabad

60,000+

tickets · 40 matches · 4 sold out

The first time India hosted the U18 Asia Cup in years. 40 matches. 60,000+ tickets sold. 4 sold-out matches. Free registration drove pan-India signups. The finals were packed despite no Indian team in the final. FIBA described the crowd as “electric and passionate.”

We truly appreciate Ticmint's support and contribution in making the ticketing process smooth and effective.

It was great working with you and the team. Looking forward to working together on many more events in the future!

Frequently asked questions

How does Ticmint support sports federation ticketing?

Ticmint provides end-to-end digital ticketing for sports federations — fan registration, ticket generation, WhatsApp delivery, gate scanning, and audience data capture. The Basketball Federation of India used Ticmint to digitize 42 matches across two FIBA events, selling 66,500+ tickets.

Yes. Ticmint supports free registration alongside paid ticketing. For the FIBA U18 Asia Cup 2026, free registration drove pan-India signups, giving BFI audience data and reach they had never had before.

Every registration on Ticmint captures fan details, name, contact, and location. For BFI, this meant building a fan database for the first time. Before Ticmint, invite-based entry left no data behind. Now every event builds a reachable audience.

Can Ticmint scale from small qualifiers to large tournaments?
