InBL Pro U25: Jack Purchase’s 32-Point Game Leads Hyderabad Falcons to a Thrilling Victory
The Hyderabad Falcons narrowly edged out the Punjab Warriors with an 88-84 win in the InBL Pro U25 basketball league at the Thyagraj Indoor Stadium on Tuesday. Jack Purchase delivered an electrifying performance, scoring an impressive 32 points, and shot 70% from beyond the arc to lead his team to victory.
Along with Purchase’s standout performance, Harry Morris and Kushal Singh each contributed 11 points, but it was Purchase’s timely scoring and leadership that secured the win for the Falcons in a tense final stretch.
Both teams came out with high intensity, racing up and down the court, leading to turnovers and fast-break opportunities. The Warriors found early success with Stokley Chaffee’s powerful put-back dunk and Uche Dibiamaka’s aggressive finish in the lane. Their energetic play kept the Falcons on their toes throughout the opening minutes.
However, Jack Purchase and Callum Dalton responded in kind, with the two of them leading a series of quick transition baskets. The Warriors had some strong moments, but it was Harry Morris who provided the Falcons with a crucial spark when he knocked down a three-pointer off the bench, pushing the Falcons to a five-point advantage as the quarter ended.
The Warriors weren’t going to back down easily, though. Chaffee continued to dominate inside, and Brijesh Tiwari capitalized on some key moments, knocking down a big three-pointer to push the Warriors to a seven-point lead early in the second quarter. The Falcons found themselves on the back foot, but Kushal Singh answered the call, sinking critical shots to keep the game within reach.
By this point, the game had reached a high level of intensity, and the tension in the air was palpable. Both teams were taking turns capitalizing on each other’s mistakes. But the Falcons were the first to hit the foul limit, which allowed the Warriors to capitalize with consecutive defensive stops. Rishabh Mathur and Alex Robinson stepped up, contributing key points to cut the Warriors’ lead down to just two as the half ended. The momentum was clearly shifting toward the Falcons.
Coming out of the break, the Warriors made their intentions clear with Gurbaz Sandhu draining a deep three and Stokley Chaffee energizing the crowd with a spectacular two-handed jam. This pushed the Warriors’ lead to nine, but the Falcons had been here before and were not about to fold.
Enter Jack Purchase—the game’s turning point came when Purchase hit three straight three-pointers, erasing the Warriors’ lead and bringing the game back to a tie. It was clear that Purchase was on a mission. He was not only scoring but also setting up his teammates, showcasing leadership and composure under pressure.
As the third quarter came to a close, Thomas Garrett stunned the crowd with a half-court buzzer-beater, giving the Warriors a narrow one-point lead heading into the final period. It was anyone’s game.
The fourth quarter was an all-out battle, with both teams refusing to give an inch. The lead would change hands multiple times, but Jack Purchase once again stepped up in the clutch, hitting key baskets and providing crucial leadership. His relentless scoring helped the Falcons push their lead to six points, but the Warriors weren’t finished yet.
Despite Gurbaz Sandhu and Lucas Barker’s best efforts to keep the Warriors close, the Falcons held firm, and their defense shut down any chance of a late comeback. In the final moments, Purchase sealed the game with free throws, ensuring that the Falcons walked away with an 88-84 victory.
With the win, the Falcons move back into first place on the standings, while the Punjab Warriors remain in fifth. “We knew it was going to be a tough game,” Purchase said after the game. “The Warriors came out hot and really made us work for every point, but we stuck together and kept our composure. I got hot in the third quarter, and that momentum helped us as a team. They were tough to break, but we regrouped and got it done.”
