InBL Pro U25: Chennai Heat Edge Delhi Dribblers in Electrifying 81-74 Victory

InBL Pro U25

The Chennai Heat avenged their previous defeat, overcoming the Delhi Dribblers 81-74 in an intense InBL Pro U25 battle at the Thyagaraj Indoor Stadium. Despite their earlier 90-80 loss, the Heat displayed resilience and determination to secure this hard-fought win, even in the absence of key players Arvinder Singh and Arvind Kumar.

Tad Dufelmeier once again delivered a brilliant performance with an all-around stat line of 20 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists, while Jaideep Rathore contributed significantly, scoring 18 points and making key defensive plays.

Both teams began cautiously, testing each other’s defensive setups. Chennai applied full-court pressure, but their defensive intensity was tested early as Matt Gray picked up two quick fouls. On the other end, Lachlan Barker and James Montgomery helped Delhi establish an inside presence, using their height advantage to control the paint. Although Delhi took early control, Rathore and Dufelmeier answered with timely baskets, keeping Chennai within four points at the end of the first quarter.

The Dribblers escalated their rebounding efforts in the second quarter, capitalizing on second-chance points. However, after a game-changing timeout, Chennai adjusted their strategy, attacking the basket more aggressively. A series of defensive stops and transition plays, led by Dufelmeier and Sejin Matthew, helped them gain a seven-point advantage. Delhi’s Piyush Meena momentarily reignited their offense with a powerful dunk, but Jack Stanwix nailed a buzzer-beating three-pointer, extending Chennai’s lead to eight heading into halftime.

Foul trouble became a major concern in the third quarter. Meena racked up his fourth foul and had to sit out, but Nawaz Singh Panaich kept Delhi competitive with long-range shooting. Meanwhile, Burkholder and Montgomery controlled the boards, reducing the deficit. Just when it seemed like Delhi could seize momentum, Malak Majak drained a clutch three-pointer at the buzzer, ensuring Chennai maintained a slim two-point lead entering the final quarter.

The Dribblers continued to fight for second-chance opportunities, but Chennai’s defensive intensity proved decisive. A late surge from Chennai sealed the game, securing a well-earned victory and strengthening their campaign in the InBL Pro U25.
