Day 2 of MMDE Thrissur Pooram marks the grand finale of this two-day cultural celebration. From mesmerizing percussion ensembles to magnificent processions, every moment reflects the heart and soul of Kerala’s festival traditions.

🚩 Kodiyettam – The Flag Hoisting Ceremony

The day begins with the sacred Kodiyettam, where a golden flag is hoisted to mark the official start of the final day’s celebrations. This ceremony symbolizes prosperity, divine blessings, and the start of a day filled with rhythm, devotion, and unity.

🥁 Traditional Performances – Keli, Kuzhal Pattu & Kombu Pattu

The atmosphere fills with powerful rhythms as artists perform Keli, followed by Kuzhal Pattu (wind instrument performance) and Kombu Pattu (traditional horn performance). These acts showcase Kerala’s deep musical heritage, creating an immersive cultural experience for every attendee.

🎶 Panchari Melam – A Legendary Percussion Symphony

The heart of Day 2 is the Panchari Melam, led by legendary percussion master Kalacharya Therozhi Ramakurup. Performing for the first time outside India, he leads over 125 percussionists in a breathtaking display of synchronization, devotion, and musical energy. The powerful beats of the Chenda Melam echo across Zabeel Park, recreating the divine atmosphere of the original Thrissur Pooram in Kerala.

🎵 Panchavadyam – The Traditional Orchestra

Another highlight is the Panchavadyam, conducted by maestro Kunissery Aniyan Marar along with 35 skilled artists. This performance features five classical instruments — Kombu, Edakka, Thimila, Ilathalam, and Madhalam — forming a rhythmic harmony that embodies Kerala’s musical spirit.

🥁 Ilanjithara Melam (Pandi Melam) – The Grand Ensemble

Under the guidance of Padmasree Peruvanam Kuttan Marar, more than 125 percussionists perform the Ilanjithara Melam, also known as Pandi Melam. This is one of Kerala’s most revered musical traditions, combining precision and power in a performance that truly defines the essence of Pooram.

🎺 Nadaswaram by Chelakkara Brothers

Renowned artists Chelakkara Brothers mesmerize the audience with their Nadaswaram performance, accompanied by Thavil drums. Their music carries a divine and festive tone, adding a soulful melody to the powerful beats of the Melam.

💃 Kavadiyattam and Singari Melam – Dance and Devotion

The cultural energy peaks with vibrant Kavadiyattam dances and Singari Melam performances. For the first time in the UAE, audiences can experience a fusion of Nadaswaram and Shinkarimelam, blending ancient rhythm with modern celebration.

🐘 MMDE Thrissur Procession and Robotic Elephants

The Pooram procession is a visual masterpiece featuring 18 traditional art forms such as Theyyam, Thalapoli, Margamkali, Oppana, and Kalakkali.
Adding to the spectacle are six life-sized robotic elephants, modeled after Kerala’s iconic elephants — Thechikkottu Ramachandran and Paambady Rajan — bringing the royal grandeur of Thrissur to Dubai.

🎆 Fireworks, Kerala Food Festival & Family Attractions

As night falls, the sky lights up with a spectacular fireworks show (Vedikkettu). Visitors can also explore the Kerala Food Festival, Pooram Exhibition, Aanachamayam (elephant ornament display), and children’s play areas.
